Here you can find useful links to other internet sites with resources for both teaching and learning English. We have carefully checked these sites for usefulness and include a brief description of the kind of resources available

Learning and Teaching Websites
This is a British Council site which offers a wide variety of resources for students of English, from songs and stories to grammar and level tests .
A British Council site for young learners with lots of language games and activities .
This is a British Council site for teachers which offers a whote host of information about methodology for teachers, as well as lesson plans and ideas for activities.
The BBC has some excellent resources for students of English, a lot of which could be easily adapted by teachers for use in their own classrooms.
An ad-supported website based in Cambridge with lots of material for learners, as well as resources for teachers.
A commercial publisher's site with a lot of materials for teachers.
 
Websites with listening material
The BBC talk radio station with a 'listen again' facility. Radio 4 has a comprehensive range of programmes, including news and current affairs, drama, comedy, science, history and factual.
Another BBC talk radio station with comedy programmes, drama and stories for children. You can 'listen again' to programmes for up to 6 days after the broadcast.
The BBC have started providing podcasts of some of their programmes as a trial.

A weekly podcast by native English speakers, mainly focusing on the Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE and CPE). You can download it automatically or listen directly. There is also a free weekly newsletter for students and teachers.

A collection of listening comprehension quizzes of different levels of difficulty. American English
   
Reading Material
 
There are 17,000 free books on the Project Gutenberg website, most of which can be used freely (Please check the copyright for your country). Also of interest are the audio books which can be downloaded.
There are links to most British and some American newspapers on this page.
   
Academic Sites
 
The website of the International Phonetic Association
SearchEnglish, the British Council website for ELT professionals, provides news, information and networking tools for English language teaching professionals.
This page lets you search the British National Corpus for free, limiting the results to 50 entries. You can subscribe to the full version or buy the CDROM

Podcast software for automatically downloading recordings.
An internet telephone that also allows you to dial an ordinary telephone in a different country for very little cost.
