The term 'podcast' is a hybrid of the words 'Ipod', Apple's portable music player, and 'broadcast'. It refers to the concept of producing a recording for people to download onto their computer and then upload onto their Ipod (or any other portable music device for playing MP3 music files). After this innovation, there then appeared various programs that automatically downloaded the latest podcast from the Internet and uploaded it onto a MP3 player so it could be listened to it at the convenience of the owner. We at Kent School think the idea of podcasts is also well-suited for practising listening and listening comprehension. We intend to make a short conversation or talk available each week for the benefit of our students. Both the latest podcast and previous podcasts will be available on this page for downloading directly or you can download the podcasts as they become available by subscribing to our RSS feed in your podcast software.
