College London Licentiate Certificate in TESOL
This
four-week intensive course is
designed to equip the candidate with the skills and knowledge
needed to take up a post as a teacher of English and to
give a firm foundation for self-evaluation and further professional
development.
A
wide range of people study for the Certificate in TESOL
including:

recent
graduates who wish to teach abroad

people
wishing to change career

teachers
of English with experience but no formal qualification

teachers
of English for whom English is not the first language

Course
Content
Successful trainees will be able
to demonstrate the following on completion of the course:
-
knowledge of
the main phonological, lexical and syntactic features
of contemporary English
-
awareness of
the learning needs of individuals or groups of learners
in a wide variety of circumstances and environments
-
the ability
to evaluate, use and adapt published material and create
original materials including appropriate and effective
audio and visual aids
- a broad understanding of the
main advantages and disadvantages of various teaching
approaches
Teaching Practice
Teaching practice is central to this course. All trainees
will complete a minimum of:
- six hours
of teaching practice with authentic classes, observed
and assessed by experienced tutors
- four hours
of observation of experienced teachers in authentic classes
Trainees are examined
by continuous assessment of assignments and a final interview.
