Intensive Teacher Training out of England
Over the last twenty years Kent School of English teacher trainers have given seminars and workshops on many topics in over a dozen countries.

We have worked closely with schools, adult education providers, Education Ministries and others to develop a wide range of teacher training courses.

KSE is very flexible in response to requests made by teachers' centres and organisations.

We can offer:
a full-week, 30-hour course to run in a residential centre
a part-week, one to three-day seminar run at a school or teachers' centre
a half-day workshop organised at a school or teachers' centre

Course Details

• Teaching grammar
Most teachers are concerned with the need to incorporate grammar, whether explicitly or implicitly, into their lesson planning. This course presents techniques that teach and practise various structures in interactive activities that are both effective and fun to use. Teachers sample a range of techniques designed to remedy particular problems through pictures, games and mini-dialogues.

• Integrated skills
All students need at some time to use all four language skills. Skills cannot be taught in isolation. This course presents a range of techniques which link two or more of the skills together in practice.

• Teaching vocabulary
English is changing all the time and has a large and rapidly-expanding vocabulary. This course gives teachers an opportunity to practise contemporary English while sampling a range of techniques for teaching vocabulary, idioms and collocations to their own students.

• Teaching oral/aural skills
This course aims to present and sample a selection of techniques which help students to improve their phonological performance, paying attention to their particular problems of pronunciation, stress and intonation. It demonstrates a range of interactive activities designed to maximise students' talking time in class. There is an analysis of listening skills and an opportunity to sample a range of techniques specially designed to help learners with difficulties.

• Exploiting authentic materials
The greatest incentive for learners of English is that the language will enable them to understand the world around them better. They will want to leave the classroom able to listen to English language songs, to watch English language TV or to read English language newspapers. We offer practical advice and materials designed to bring the world outside into the classroom so that you can help your students to develop their listening and reading skills.

• Language practice for teachers
Many practising teachers, especially those who always teach at the same level, often feel the need to go back to the classroom and revise and improve their own English. Language changes and this course gives teachers an opportunity to practise contemporary English in a multilingual situation. Materials are selected which give teachers maximum talking time and every chance to improve both their accuracy and fluency. In addition, close attention is given to the expansion of teachers' active vocabulary, including idiom and collocation.
